Pecan Pie Brownies

Brownie Base:

  • 1 (9×9 inch pan size) boxed brownie mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)

Pecan Pie Topping:

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups pecans, chopped

Instructions

Prepare the Oven and Pan:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

Brownie Layer:

  1. Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions.
  2. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.

Initial Bake:

  1. Bake for half the recommended time on the box, plus an additional 5 minutes.

Pecan Pie Topping:

  1. Whisk together melted butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Stir in the eggs, then fold in the chopped pecans until well combined.

Combine Layers:

  1. Remove the brownies from the oven and carefully pour the pecan pie topping over the partially baked layer.

Final Bake:

  1. Return to the oven for another 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is set and slightly golden.

Cool and Chill:

  1. Allow to cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
