Chocolate Brownie Cake

  • Author: Tasty Grove

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 box (18.3 ounces) fudge brownie mix
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups water, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (218g) vegetable oil

For the Ganache:

  • 1 cup (238g) heavy whipping cream
  • 1 bag (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (177°C). Take a 10-inch Bundt pan and spray it with nonstick cooking spray to ensure your cake comes out smoothly.
  2. Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, fudge brownie mix, eggs, water, and oil. Whisk the mixture for about 2 minutes or until most lumps have disappeared, and you have a smooth batter.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes. The cake is done when an inserted toothpick comes out with a few crumbs but no wet batter.
  4. Cooling Down: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for up to 10 minutes before turning it out onto a cooling rack. Let it cool for an additional 30 minutes before adding the ganache.
  5. Prepare the Ganache: Heat the whipping cream in a microwave-safe bowl until it simmers, which should take about 45 seconds to a minute. Add the chocolate chips to the hot cream, let sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until the mixture is shiny and smooth.
  6. Finishing Touch: Pour the ganache over the cooled cake, ensuring an even spread over the top and sides. Allow the ganache to set slightly before serving.
